THE NAPIER TRAMPING CLUB (INC.) |
P O Box 992, Napier
Napier Tramping Club is a group of like-minded people who enjoy the natural environment of the great outdoors, as a club. We tramp predominantly in the Hawke’s Bay province, in areas such as the Kaweka and Ruahine Ranges, but longer distances are travelled to other areas, on long weekends, when three- or four-day trips are arranged. |
Napier Tramping Club was established in 1974 and currently has about 70 members. It is a member of the Federated Mountain Clubs of NZ (Inc) - FMC. |
We have Saturday, weekend and Wednesday tramps, every fortnight. Our Club Meetings are held on the Thursday evening, before the weekend tramps, at 7.30 pm at Port Ahuriri School Hall, Napier. Tramping arrangements are made at these meetings, previous trips are discussed and a guest speaker addresses the club too.
Transport is by a hired van and if necessary club members’ private vehicles. Transport costs are fixed every six months, but reviewed for longer distances. Generally 10-11 in the van, and four people per vehicle and with each person paying an arranged sum to the driver, for fuel and running costs. Trampers are collected from pre-arranged collection points in the morning and returned there after the trip. |
